Yamaha Motor India has officially entered the electric vehicle segment with the launch of the EC-06, its first-ever electric scooter for the Indian market.

Priced at ₹1,67,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the EC-06 was unveiled on February 2, 2026, marking a significant milestone for the Japanese two-wheeler giant as it joins India’s rapidly growing EV revolution.

Key Highlights

The EC-06 comes with an impressive certified range of 169 kilometres on a single charge, making it a compelling option for daily urban commuters. Initially, the scooter will be available in select cities through Yamaha’s premium Blue Square showrooms, offered exclusively in a Bluish White colour variant.

Performance and Specifications

Under the hood, the EC-06 is powered by an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) paired with a 4kWh fixed battery. The performance figures are notable:

  • Top speed: 79 km/h
  • Maximum torque: 26 Nm
  • Peak power: 6.7 kW

The battery is backed by a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty and can be charged using a standard home plug. A full charge takes approximately eight hours, ensuring the scooter is ready for daily commutes with minimal downtime.

Riding Modes and Features

Yamaha has equipped the EC-06 with three distinct riding modes—Eco, Standard, and Power—allowing riders to choose between efficiency, balanced performance, or maximum acceleration depending on their needs.

A convenient Reverse Mode has also been included to make maneuvering in tight parking spaces easier.

The scooter features a telescopic front suspension with hydraulic dampers and a rear coil spring suspension for a comfortable ride through urban conditions. Safety is addressed with 200mm disc brakes on both ends, complemented by a Combi Brake System (CBS) for enhanced stability.

Smart Connectivity and Storage

In line with modern expectations, the EC-06 integrates the “Yamaha Motor Connect R” app, enabling riders to access real-time data and smart features for a connected riding experience.

The colour LCD provides essential information, including speed, battery status, riding modes, and connectivity features.

Practical storage needs are well-addressed with an impressive 24.5 liters of under-seat storage—enough space for helmets, bags, and daily essentials.

Durability and Design

The EC-06 carries IP67 certification for its motor and battery, along with IP65 certification for other electronics, ensuring superior water and dust resistance.

The design philosophy blends Yamaha’s traditional DNA with contemporary aesthetics, featuring clean, sharp body lines targeted at young, style-conscious riders.

LED headlights and taillights not only improve visibility during night rides but also add a modern, sleek touch to the overall design.

Supporting India’s Green Future

According to Mr Hajime Aota, Chairman of Yamaha Motor India Group, the EC-06 represents Yamaha’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility and aligns with India’s ambitious goal of achieving Net-Zero emissions by 2070.

“The EC-06 demonstrates how sustainability and riding excitement can coexist—true to our brand philosophy and our responsibility towards the future of India’s green economy,” Aota stated.

Developed in India with a global outlook, the scooter supports the government’s National Mission on Transformative Mobility and the ‘Make in India’ initiative, aiming to reduce dependence on fossil fuels in the two-wheeler segment.

Target Audience

Yamaha is positioning the EC-06 for tech-savvy, environmentally conscious urban riders who value innovation, style, and sustainability. The scooter appeals to those seeking smart, reliable mobility solutions that reflect both their individuality and eco-friendly mindset.

With the EC-06, Yamaha joins established players in India’s competitive electric scooter market, bringing its legacy of quality and performance to the sustainable mobility space. As charging infrastructure continues to expand across the country, the EC-06 could be an attractive option for riders looking to make the switch to electric.
